Marianne married a dashing army major named Charles, but he’s forced to leave her and go to war right after she’s struck by personal tragedy. Three years later, Charles returns home safe from the war, and she musters her courage to tell him she wants a divorce. I love the storyline so much, eventhough the setting take place in 19th century, but it is not like any other typical harlequin. The characters are also lovable. There is no frustrating dramatic cliche plot like you always find in harlequins story as both the hero and the heroin are being honest with their feelings. I love the fact that the major is accepting the changes of his wife and falling in love with her again. And i also understood every actions taken by his wife. She is being reasonable unlike so many other heroin who always act unrational just because of misunderstanding.
