This novel was hard to pick a side because there were so many sides to just one argument. To start off easy, the hero declared the heroine a cold woman because she didn't come to see her grandfather's funeral but it turns out that the heroine didn't get the news that mail in the mail till the day the hero arrived. I don't know how the hero didn't know because if you send an express mail, you only get a range of days of when the mail might arrive. The next hard thing was the interaction between the heroine and the community. I understand that it's hard for the heroine to interact with standoffish people but I also know that in a close-knit community that when an outsider who inherits a lot of land in their community, the neighbors become scared. It becomes even more complicated when the heroine learns that she has inherited an ostrich breeding farm. I don't know what a person can do with ostriches but know she has to live on the ranch for a year in order for the other occupants to get their share of profits from the investment they made in the ostriches. It's a pretty big change for a city woman to living out in the ranch. I do like how the heroine adapts her to situation slowly and manages to make it go. However, I'm still trying to understand how a romance developed between the two. It was more of a drop of a hat passion romance, too quick for my tastes.
