One stormy night, Erin swerves to avoid a dog in the road—only to end up crashing in the river. Struggling from the wreckage, she picks up the abandoned dog and wanders until she finds a clinic. The doctor, Dom, takes them both in; his warmth makes her chest so tight… The next day, out of nowhere, Erin offers to help Dom since he’s so busy. Perhaps by his side, she can find meaning that can counter the listlessness she feels.
This is so cute, you would love it. The hero and the heroine meet agh the hero's doorstep on easter morning because the heroine was in a car accident in order to avoid a dog that got thrown out of a car. The hero is a doctor in a rural part, who has adopted two boys that have come from broken homes. One boy still has his father wanting but is unable to care for himself, much less the little boy, which is heartbreaking to see. Although, We also learn that the heroine is a doctor too, which I find cool. Then the heroine's fake boyfriend comes to take because their families want them to be together to forget the pain of losing the heroine's older siblings when they were children. The man isn't a bad sort because when the hero and heroine come back from an emergency, the fbfriend is reading a story to the boys. I think that one of the sweetest moments for the heroine was sitting with an old man deal with the pain of his wife who just passed away. It was so sweet and warm. I also love the maid of the hero, she is just a firecracker, especially when she calls the fbfriend "handsome". It's a bit funny of how battle of the heroine staying to work becomes a gender vs. gender thing. We. come over a few obstacles but the ending is beautiful and it's a book worth reading.
