This is not the type of book I normally read, meaning Mills and Boon novels, but decided to give it a go. I was only a few pages in when I quietly, but still out loud said “Oh no!” It read “He was movie-star handsome with a square jaw and chiselled features.” That is Prince Stephan Reynard, the Prince of Castile, or Prince Squarejaw :) Mandy Crawford with fiery red hair has a strong family unit with her extended family and adopted son. The Prince has come for his nephew Joshua who is heir to the throne now that Josh’s biological father, (Squarejaw’s brother) has died. It was an ok read, I guess it’s what you might expect of a Mills and Boon novel. Prince charming attracts a lady, then at the end they drive off into the sunset. Although that’s not literally what happens :). But he’s probably not charming in the Notting Hill Hugh Grant way. He’s more of an awkward Arnold Schwarzenegger not knowing how to fit in coming from his palace in Castile, to the family life of the Crawford’s in Texas. The Prince's Heir is a satisfying read for those who enjoy feisty heroines and rich, urbane heroes. After his brother's untimely death, the current heir to a European island kingdom is tipped off to the fact that he may not be the legitimate heir after all. His deceased brother may have been hiding a secret. Sent to find out the truth, Stephen discovers the facts and a tough Texas woman named Mandy who has adopted his nephew, the true heir to his kingdom. Accepting an invitation to live briefly with this family to see how they live and treat Josh, the heir apparent, Stephen and Mandy strike sparks off each other and develop an unexpected and unwanted connection. Mandy learns that life and love changes with time and she can take the love of family with her wherever she goes. Stephen learns that it can be safe to love and open up after years of being closed to strong emotion.
