- catching catnappers and a clumsy hero 4
- JAB 08/16/2018
I rather liked this one more than to be expected. So in summary: the heroine finds out from a sympathetic helper at the clinic who state that her cat ran away that it was stolen by mistake for a cat that's owned by a rich millionaire widow. She's given the name and the address and goes to see them to ask for help because that's where the cat nappers will call. She is of course met under suspicion by the hero who's the head of security. From there on, he has doubts about her and he has good reason with the hero pretending her cat is stolen, seeking sympathy from the widow who was sheltered ( I mean the dead husband made sure to have no newspaper or tv, as a way to protect his wife. What is she, spun glass?). The heroine is appalled by the hero's statements and this begins a relationship of ongoing bicker between the two. However, there is a fine line between hate and love, the factor applies to them both because they can't help but be attracted to the other. Both have had some bad points of where the heroine grew up in a neglected and bad environment but when she found her cat when he was a kitten, he became her family and rock. The hero's past rather sad because he was a good cop who took the word of a frail, frightened, and pretty bank worker that her boss was embezzling. His feelings blinded from her plan and it wasn't till she left him in a horrible way that he started to connect the dots. His realization that he put an innocent man away broke his confidence in himself and he stopped being a cop. In the regard of connecting the dots, there was a scene that had me laughing because it was a such a huge clue to the cat nappers that was staring at me in the face but I didn't even notice it. So, the hero and the heroine with the hero's clumsiness with his choice of words and the heroine's hackles raised and ready to pounce him at every his every word. In the end, they catch the kidnappers, our main couple declare their love, and we fast forward some years where they are a married couple with a little girl. It's really a pleasant story and I had fun reading it.
