The Fortune Hunter

When Cassie was very young, both her parents died and left her as the sole heir of a massive fortune. When she grew old enough to marry, numerous suitors lined up to court her in an effort to win her hand and fortune. Viscount Quinlan was one of them. Rumours abound that he has frittered away his own family’s fortune through a lavish lifestyle, but Cassie’s older cousin, Anthony, who has been her guardian since her parents passed away, told her that Quinlan is trustworthy and invites him to a party. judge the book not the cover 4  4

The heroine is an heiress with a fortune that anybody with a dollar sign in his eye is sniffing around. However, she's not an easy catch and the rumors about her help in keeping them away. That is until the hero comes and she falls into his arms. He acts like a gentleman by carrying her to the closest inn for help. Yet, their situation of being alone and unmarried is seen by the heroine's relatives who are practically peeved at the spectacle before them. Now, there's talk of the heroine and the hero getting married but the heroine is against it. Now, I liked how the hero and heroine get acquainted with talking and learning about each other's pasts. I also liked how the story gave the different people the, "don't judge a book by its cover". A perfect example was the heroine horrendous chaperone who was a jealous of the heroine's fortune and wasn't against demeaning her at every single turn. Throughout the book, she is seen as a snob with class and a taste for gentleman but in the end, hahahahahaha. She's dragged down the staircase by the head maid with her clothes all over because she was caught by one of the men's butler whose head was under her skirts! Hahahahahahahaha, so much for a Lady of Class. A very good romance to read.

Historical Romance in England! 5  5

I like this story in three parts! It is very interesting, romantic and well-described in details. Besides there's also a touch of mystery that enriches the plot! I've read the second book (An Uncommon Abigail) before the present one, that should be intended as the first part of the bundle; anyway each book has its main couple so it was fine. Now... Go for the third and last part!
