When lawyer Morea hears what her mother is asking of her, it takes her breath away. What? Pretend to be engaged to her rival? But that’s exactly what her mother is proposing. Morea’s father, a college professor, is being unjustly accused of sexual harassment, but is thinking of resigning without even putting up a fight. Morea’s mother thinks that if the ever-capable lawyer Ridge is introduced as Morea’s fiancé, he can convince her father of taking it to court. Though they compete against each other in the courtroom, when it comes to the sham engagement, Ridge is all too happy to comply. And when Morea gets to know more of his personal life, she finds him more handsome and charming than she would like to admit!
One of the things that I liked about this harlequin comic was all the issues brought up that required legal aid from messy divorces to providing counsel and then dealing with harassment cases involving student and professor. For me, it was interesting to watch the heroine get flustered with the hero when she can be so cool as a cucumber in court. She thinks the hero isn't interested in her because of his playboy manner with her but she can't tell that's him flirting, wooing, and courting the heroine. For me, it was fun tangled web of law made of good and bad and I really enjoyed it. The heroine was a bit of a blockhead for not noticing the hero's feelings for her but I liked it nevertheless.
