The heroine has recently inherited an etiquette school from her uncle and aunt but has no idea that the uncle used the school as a cover for a prostitution ring whose antics have caught the attention of the hero who is a detective. He invites the heroine out for dinner and after much persuasion, she agrees. The hero is confused on the heroine's behavior of whether she's part of the whole scheme or not but he persists in his investigation. The heroine confesses her feelings of hesitation towards the whole date to her older sister who encourages her to take a chance rather than live in fear. They have a great time at the baseball, driving the poor hero to feel guilty because he wants her but he needs hard evidence to implicate that she's not part of the prostitution ring. He makes an offer and sees her price and she replies it to be hot chocolate. They share a hot night but afterwards, the hero starts talking about price and lays a pile of bills for her to take. The heroine is insulted by the hero's actions and tells him that he and his money can go "under" you know where. The hero is relieved by her actions since by not taking the money means she's innocent but now he's in a hard spot because he's fallen for her. Later on, he gets a call on the heroine being attacked at the office by a masked stranger. He goes to see her and gets an earful from the older sister on his actions. Imagine the heroine's shock when she sees the hero coming through the doorway, identifying himself as a detective. He tells her what his group have uncovered about the etiquette school but the heroine slaps him in belief that's why he did it with her but the hero assures her their night had nothing to do with the investigation. He takes the heroine home and watches over her. Then she gets a call from the attacker and believes in the hero's words now. The heroine offers to help the hero but she won't open her heart to him, something that he desperately wants from her as well as to give her his own. However, after finding more evidence, the heroine wants the hero to love her and he lies about not having protection. Yet, she finds it and thinks the hero doesn't want to be with her anymore. They hit a bump but can't focus on it as the climax with getting the bad guy approaches. The next few scenes are pretty interesting and a bit heart thumping but fairly nice. They catch the guy in the end. The two separate for a while till the hero gets the courage to go to the heroine and tell her that he loves her. It's a fairly nice ending.
