HIS FORBIDDEN LIAISON
It’s the nineteenth century, France is in turmoil and Marguerite, the daughter of the Marquis of Gerbeaux, is working as a weaver to hide her noble lineage from Napoleon’s men. Her business takes her to the Port of Marseilles, where she meets a young, beautiful man and woman who look as if they’ve stepped out of a fine painting. Just as she’s about to leave, gunshots ring out—and the woman’s been hit! Marguerite saves the beautiful couple with her quick wits. But the man, Louis Jacques, seems more interested in Marguerite than his beautiful wife…even if he is still on his guard around her. Little does Marguerite know that her sensual, harrowing journey has just begun…

A historical romance, nice costumes taste, with a thrilling start. I like how the comic artist potray the expression of heroine, a brave witty young woman.

This was a really interesting one with our series on British spies and their foreign unusual wives. We have gone from Russian Captain in disguise to Vienna Singer who go high, and now we have a fallen French noble woman with a pistol at her side. She comes to the rescue of a couple till it's found out that one of them is a man. I was giggling at the hero's act, proclaiming his comrade as an evil man who nearly tricked him into marrying him. Then there's the scene of her knocking him out and tying him up because she believed his lie of being a follower of Napoleon. I loved the plot, the stories, and so much more. I loved how the two learned and trusted each other as they went through enemy territory. It gave a lot of thrill and fun. I really enjoyed how it ended happily. I was hoping for a little romance from the hero's companion who's been dodging the heroine's sister's advances. It was funny.
