I'm glad there were people who enjoyed this story but I lost interest in this whole story. It starts out with the heroine discovering her fiancee in bed with another woman only a week before the wedding. Yet, we learned this was actually the last straw since she admitted to herself and the reader that she turned a blind eye to his "repeated infidelities" and such. Their relationship was literally the phrase of the guy getting the milk, cookies, butter, and cream but not making him buy the cow. Now, the heroine wants to throw herself into work before heading home to tell her shrill mother the wedding is off but she never says why. I mean I don't know how she'll react but at least the heroine will be honest with her and I know the father will be 100% on the heroine's side. She gets a big career opportunity to work under the boss and it only takes one night for them to fall into bed (she went under a wardrobe change to look less attractive). I understand the heroine has had a lot to process in the last few days but if she's going to have rebound coitus then try not to do it with her boss. They have a two nights affair going on but when the hero proposes to keep it going, she rejects it. Later, the hero has her visit his office and he reveals that he tried but can't keep the deal. It's actually where a lot of things come up like the cancelled wedding and why. The hero ends up being the heroine's backup when facing the family on the cancelled nuptials on a lie that he's her new beau. He takes her out and even with all the heat, she hesitates on a lot of things. For example, the hero's offer of her moving in with him. On that same night, the hero declares he wants to marry the heroine and I was aghast since it was way too soon. However, the man is able to swoon the heroine with the idea it would of convenience without being worried about love. She goes for it with a yes. There is trouble what with the heroine still wanting to work and the hero doesn't want her. Then she finds out from her boss the the hero has been into her long before she was engaged. There are a lot of bumps but the air finally clears on their wedding night. The hero learns the heroine is in love with him and more. The heroine learns the hero has always wanted her. That's the ending but it just didn't seem very fulfilling.
