THE SHEIKH'S BARTERED BRIDE / THE VENETIAN`S DEFIANT WOMAN

Catherine has a chance meeting with Hakim, an heir to the throne of Jawar, at the library where she works. He seems just like a prince out of a fairy tale… She falls for him with one glance, and the two begin a passionate romance. One day, he proposes to her out of the blue. Catherine is thrilled…until she learns that it was all just an elaborate ploy. He then whisks her away to the burning sands of the desert! Catherine doesn’t know what Hakim’s motives are, just that she seems to be trapped far from home… What is he trying to do? This volume also features the story about a love affair between Charlie, an art conservator, and Orlando, the strong-willed Venetian man who hires her to consult on a painting he’s recently acquired.

fine, I guess 3  3

The stories were alright but they really didn't hit my romance and love meter in terms of how it played out. I mean, the first one is the heroine finding out that the hero is marrying her in order to get a visa and special permission for the heroine's father to do work in his country. I would have cut my dad out of my will had he used me as a bargaining tool. In fact, that's never addressed for the couple. By then, the heroine thinks that nobody will have her and should just be lucky the hero took her as his bride. This makes the hero all upset because the heroine has stopped asking for his love. Well, it wasn't like she knew he cared for her as more than a bargaining tool. To summarize: he goes back to the heroine to live in the US to pursue her dream of staying as a librarian. Heroine decides to become a mobile librarian in the hero's desert country. The end was cool because of the heroine being a mobile librarian, a good profession. However, the 2nd story was better. The hero and the heroine meet when the hero's guards drag her over because she was sketching when the hero thinks she's one of the paparazzi hyenas. She proves that she's not and is actually an art appraiser. This starts off with a common thing of them both loving art and it grows from there. There are obstacles with the hero shy since his wife cheated on him with an older and more influential man. It did get better with them learning more and more about each other till the end where they get married in front of two paintings. The first could have been better and the 2nd story was fine.
