The hero and heroine had a one night stand that resulted in a child. The heroine isn't so big because of how their morning after went and the hero doesn't meet her criteria since she wanted a cowboy and not a businessman. However, I did like that the heroine went to the hero to inform him instead of doing the whole secret thing. It's a complicated situation for the hero not because the heroine is pregnant but because the whole reason he met her in the bar was to get some DNA that would confirm if she was related to a bigwig man in Texas. The results were positive so, he wants to do the marriage for the baby deal but the heroine is against it and even has no idea about the whole paternity. In fact, she has no idea that she's adopted. Why? The heroine's sister disappeared when they were little and the tragedy caused her mom to fall ill and die then the father was so distraught that he went back to his old job of journalism in dangerous environments. This left the heroine feeling lonely and yearning for the whole cowboy family and managing a farm dream. The hero convinces her to marry him when he opens up about how hard life was for his single mom to raise her kids and he doesn't want his child to go through that but he hides the fact that he's ambitious to marry her because marrying her means he gets to become part of the biggest elite family in Texas. He is forewarned by his brother but doesn't heed his advice. They have a shotgun wedding with the heroine unknowingly meeting her half-sister and learns the half-sister's mother suffered a tremendous betrayal of destroying her friend having an affair with her husband. The hero and heroine begin their vacation but are interrupted by the news that the half-sister's ranch is has an out of control fire. The whole situation has the hero remember why he was attracted to the heroine and finds himself in love with the heroine. Now, he's frightened because she still doesn't know the truth of her parentage and when she talks about it, he shuts her down. It causes a rift between them only for a moment and while, they do have some downs, they start having ups that builds their relationship until the heroine finds the hero's document on her in his office. The heroine is so hurt and shocked by the hero's betrayal that she locks him out of her heart and their house. The hero spends the next few weeks trying to meet with the heroine only to be turned away by her friend. Then he comes one night to find the heroine alone and dealing with her water breaking. He breaks in and takes her to the hospital where they become parents to a cute baby boy. They talk over their feelings and the heroine forgives him because she loves him. The heroine's father does come and reveals how he became to be her father was his colleague having trouble raising twin babies and his wife and him having fertility troubles. It's a very sweet ending and I did enjoy it.
