This was such a good story, it was bit like reading the happy romance ending for Gertude Bell. The heroine is the daughter of a diplomat and by no means an airhead or a prissy pants (pardon the language). In fact, if the world at that time was more 21st Century thinking of gender equality then the heroine would have been the better diplomat in making negotiations than her husband. I mean, he acted like a gentleman back in their home country but he revealed his true colors when they were sent on the mission. He was a whiner, creeper, loner, and more. Whatever he saw or even felt a twinge of, he complained about. The man couldn't even lie about how wonderful the man was in order to set up the proper relations with her hosts. Well, before the man can even redeem himself, their caravan is ambushed and he's killed along with some of the hero's men. Now, the hero and heroine are given the chance to get to know each other and the heroine is adaptable to some things but not all like the fashion and it brings up such an interesting topic on fashion, cultural acceptance, and sticking to your roots. I found it really good and with how the cliff hanger goes.
