GOVERNESS TO CHRISTMAS BRIDE
Is it wrong of me to have feelings for you when you are noble and I am not?
It’s been two years since Lord Chepstow has seen the awkward, unsociable Honeysuckle Miller. Since then she has become a governess at the home of his acquaintance, Lord Budworth. An invitation from Lord Budworth to spend Christmas at his manor seems like the perfect opportunity for Lord Chepstow to reconnect with Honeysuckle. At first, the governess is delighted to hear that Lord Chepstow will be at the manor, but their first meeting proves to be horrific when he laughs at her appearance. Still, despite their horrendous encounter, she can’t seem to get him out of her head. Will Honeysuckle’s dreams of love come true? Annie Burrows love of stories meant that when she was old enough to go to university, she chose English literature. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do beyond that, but one day, she began to wonder if all those daydreams that kept her mind occupied whilst carrying out mundane chores, would provide similar pleasure to other women. She was right… and Annie hasn’t looked back since.

I really liked this story with how it went in span course of a few days. The hero and heroine know each because the heroine was the hero's sister's best friend in boarding school. Now, the hero isn't the average victorian gentleman because he's tired of all the flirty empty headed, yet sneaky women (mothers and daughters) who want him trapped in a matrimony bond. He runs into the heroine who's the governess being underpaid to care for kids and some aren't the type who know how to behave. The hero helps but fails at first but succeeds the second time. In fact, the hero uses the rowdy young boys as a shield against his latest predator (a real nasty woman). Now, he gets closer and closer to the heroine and finds himself in love with her for being a woman with a kind manner and an intelligent mind. The heroine also finds herself in love with the hero when she gets to know him more and more. Then the two are secretly seen by the nasty predator who pulls the usual about rank and wickedness to get the heroine fired and kicked out. When the hero finds out from an angry maid about how men like him get away and others like the heroine suffer the consequences from late night meetings. He runs out the door to find the heroine and finds her in stable near the church. She resists his advances then he states that he intends to marry her because she's the kind of woman he's been looking for. The kind who actually pays attention to children and gives them love, the kind who stands strong, and more. He asks the heroine to marry him and she accepts. Then they meet the priest and ask him to bless and officiate their marriage. The priest does and we end with the two riding the horse back to the mansion. The only reason I gave this harlequin comic a four star was due to not getting to see the snobby people (especially the predator) expressions when the hero brings the heroine back with news that the hero is off the market and married to a working woman!.
