Those events stole Noelle’s self-esteem, and it took her many years to get back on her feet. Now that she has encountered him once again, she doesn’t want to remember those tragic days. This book has some pros and cons to it with how it played out. I mean the whole kidnapping wasn't at all romantic. In reality, it's a serious crime to kidnap someone. Plus, the hero was playing all wrong with kidnapping the heroine but I don't want the audience to forget that he grew up with an abusive father and stayed with him. So, his heart shows he loves her but his actions are all messed up. I think what I liked is seeing reflect on their actions and words before, during, and after their marriage. The hero actually opens up about his abused life and the loss of his sister. The heroine also learns the awful truth of their wedding being constructed by her father with the hero's father when she was 13!!! Which is actually the real reason why the hero didn't go to her on their wedding night and chased her away. He wanted not to be under his father's thumb in everything and that meant being with the heroine. To be honest, I actually believe that I would have done the same thing. My partner would have been collateral damage but I would be like the hero; too focused on defying my father. This is after the hero reveals the abuse. Then the hero reveals he found out the day of their wedding. The heroine and hero finally reach the same step of wanting to restart their relationship all over again and get married. The heroine accepts the hero's marriage proposal and we have a happy ending with the wedding.
