The title was all wrong about the story: first, only a side character's wife is pregnant throughout the entire book and the heroine doesn't reveal she's a few weeks along till the end. The story itself wasn't bad, I just hate a title that doesn't relate to the story. The story itself was fairly good with the hero and heroine being twice bitten shy kind of people. Now, the hero is a divorcee thanks to his ex-wife listening in on the heroine's comments and declares him a domestic abusive husband. She divorces him then goes on a tear fest to the heroine about how horrible the hero was to her and everything. The heroine can't help but believe and empathize with the woman because she divorced a domestically abusive husband herself where it was so bad that she had to leave the country. She has no idea what the hero looks like or his full name but he does her. He meets her at a party where he's going to be chaperoning her and a mutual friend for a book tour at the friend's request to ease his heavily pregnant wife's nerves. The hero leaves a positive impression on the heroine and it's likewise for the hero, despite the fact he knows who she is. They have a hot night but the morning ends badly when EX comes crashing into the heroine's office with flamboyant attitude about how the heroine was with the hero who's the abusive EX and how he must have slept with the heroine for revenge. The heroine believes the whole thing and doesn't contact him and it leads him to believe she was only using him. It puts them at odds on the whole book tour. It takes a crash with the heroine's old abuser for the hero to see what kind of a creep her ex-husband was and learn the things he did like cut up her clothes, coerce her into quitting work, etc. The heroine sees the hero looking out for his friends but keeps getting calls from the EX who's "relieved" that the hero resents the heroine. It's an interesting choice of words. She also learns from the mutual friends that a lot of the Ex's stories were exaggerated. For example, she states that he didn't let her go to a party but she never told her it was because she caught the flu and it would have been bad if everyone caught it. Plus, the Ex would never stop bragging about her misfortune with the hero or how much better her new husband is. She's a basically an attention seeking creep but the heroine couldn't figure out that's what she was after hearing all the truth about the wife. Then the heroine's Ex starts making appearances and threats but the hero is there to scare him off. The two have a talk about and admit they misunderstood each other about a lot. Afterwards they pull probably one of the best acts in the world that they manage to finally keep him away for good. Festivities change when they have to rush back because the wife went into labor but everyone is fine. The heroine feels a little sick and finds out that she's pregnant. Then she runs into the Ex who can't stop her usual dissing on the hero like the hero wanted kids because she didn't want to have kids with a monster family like hero's parents dying, grandmother burning books, etc. The heroine finally sees the attention seeker for who she and defends the hero. She evens states she would love to have the hero's baby and will sue the Ex if she keeps it up. The Ex doesn't let go of her acting skills, putting the blame on everyone but herself then walks away. The hero overheard everything and he's beaming with joy of what the heroine did for him. He clarifies a couple of things that he only had a strict grandmother and his parents died from a disease in Africa. He proclaims he loves and she does as well with the plus of revealing her pregnancy. The hero hugs her tight with joy and asks her to marry him. She says yes and we get a happy ending.
